Xanax is a drug that was designed only for temporary use, though many people who begin using it continue to beyond what is recommended out of fear of Xanax withdrawal symptoms. While the effect of Xanax withdrawal can be quite unpleasant, it is usually preferable to the negative effects of long term Xanax use. Like most benzodiazepines, Xanax is damaging to the kidneys and liver, and has many other negative side effects. The longer you take it, the more intense the effects of Xanax withdrawal will be.
