Are you in need of a long, good sleep? So are many other people, nearly half of all adults surveyed say that they are not getting as much sleep as they would like to. What may very well be the case is that they are not getting enough good sleep. Let me explain in further detail. A person will go through a ninety to one hundred minute sleep cycles, usually about five per night. When these cycles are interrupted or they are out of balance the result is very poor sleep quality, and not the good sleep you need to fully function. The reasons one may not be getting good sleep vary, it may be as simple as a poor sleep environment; that is your bedroom may be too hot or too cold, or to noisy, or there may be too much light. Anxiety, and prescription and nonprescription drugs can cause disruption in the sleep cycle. What can be done if you can't sleep? It depends of course on why you can't sleep. Most cases of insomnia are either environmental (room is too hot, too much noise) or emotional (stress anxiety). Some people can fall asleep anywhere, and others need just the right temperature and light levels or else they can't sleep. If the second category is you, unfortunately there is little that can be done except try to get your bedroom as close to the perfect sleep environment as possible. Although many are skeptical, herbal supplements have real science behind them, and if you can't sleep they should be used much before you consider a prescription drug.
